Hannes is responsible for regulatory compliance and internal controls in multiple jurisdictions (including Hong Kong, China, Japan, U.S., U.K) and operational risk management at PAG (pagasia.com), one of the largest alternative investment managers in Asia with funds in private equity, hedge fund, distressed assets and real estate. Previously he was head of risk and compliance at affiliated fund manager VinaCapital, the leading foreign fund manager in Vietnam, based in Ho Chi Minh City where he set up internal control, compliance and risk management functions to meet corporate governance requirements for three London-listed investment funds for capital markets, real estate and infrastructure.
Hannes has also worked in Japan, Korea and the U.K. in the real estate finance, retail and automotive industries in internal audit and control functions. His qualifications include MBA (UBC Vancouver), CFA, FRM, CIA and securities licensing regulatory exams in Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan. He is currently writing the risk management curriculum material for the new CFA foundation certification, and a M.Sc. dissertation on pension fund governance for London University SOAS.
