Wilfred is a qualified Barrister at Law (Lincoln’s Inn, United Kingdom) and has practised law for about 18 years. He is also admitted to the Bar in Australia (Australian Capital Territory and the Federal Courts of Australia, the Republic of Singapore and Brunei Darussalam as a qualified Advocate & Solicitor. His experience includes working in Singapore as a legal practitioner and working in the Gulf/Asia Pacific region for both the private and the public sector as Head of Legal /Chief Compliance Office heading the Legal and Compliance Department.
As a qualified lawyer and accomplished litigator Wilfred has numerous landmark civil and criminal legal cases handled by him reported in the national news media and law reports.
As a corporate lawyer, he has assisted international clients (including financial institutions and property companies, etc.) to handle their corporate and commercial work, legal and regulatory compliance issues both in the Republic of Singapore and the Gulf Cooperation Council (“GCC”) countries in the Middle East region.
His legal expertise work includes banking/insurance/white-collar crime legal work, asset fund management and private investment banking work, dealing with complex corporate issues such as deal structuring, merger and acquisition, structuring of funds, etc. In addition, he was also involved in the drafting of the Credit Information Laws for the Government of Dubai.
Currently, Wilfred is Head of Compliance of MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and takes charge of all compliance, anti-money-laundering, fraud, I.T. security and J-Sox (Japanese equivalent of U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley) matters.
He is a member of the Singapore Academy of Law and Law Society of Singapore.
