Soon-Heum Hong received the M. S. degree and Ph.D degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea in 1985 and 1994, respectively.
He joined the Research Center of Korea Highspeed Rail Authority in 1995. Since December 1997 he has been with the Department of Railway Policy and Operation where he was Principal Researcher as head of Operations Research group. He is also the Professor of Transportation and Logistics System of University of Science & Technology from 2004.
His current research interests include operations research for railway operation, yield management, railway traffic management and safety management system.
