Mary Bonar is Head of Rail at international law firm Stephenson Harwood which has offices in Asia in Singapore, Hong Kong and the PRC. She and members of the teams apply project (including public private partnership-PPP) and asset financing and privatisation skills and techniques in the context of heavy and light rail and metro infrastructure schemes and rolling stock procurement. She became involved with rail during the privatisation of British Rail. Mary was best practice adviser on the India Planning Commission's Model PPP contract for metro. She has worked on several high-speed rail schemes in Europe such as the Eurostar passenger business on the rail link between Britain, France and Belgium and the Dutch HSL-Zuid and on light rail and metro projects including currently Dublin Metro North. She is also a promoter of rail passenger services through Renaissance Trains.
